Excellent Bachelorette's Night Out!, May 30, 2006
By spagirl1026 from Hyannis, MA
"Journey Studio & Spa was the location for a friend's last night as a single girl. party. The staff easily accomodated the 18 of us, with an easy, flowing evening of pampering. Everyone was able to experience a great list of services within about 2.5 hours but no one felt rushed or cheated out of a good experience. THere was a mini schedule, and it kept everything flowing. Everyone had scheduled "lobby time" which allowed us to mingle within our groups and while some were waiting for less private services like nails or make up, there were side areas where we were able to "hang out" and socialize. The 15 minute massage for everyone, including a very pregnant lady, really capped off the night for us! Alicia and her staff were very flexible and willing to set up whatever we wanted. Each of us remarked at the reasonable rate we were charged for this fabulous evening with just the girls. I highly recommend this spa for girls' nights out, bachelorette parties or just individual services.
I also have experienced the studio at Journey Studio and Spa. As a fitness instructor at several gyms, I can say from experience that this is a great set up. It's brand new, doesn't smell or have loud noise, and doesn't make you feel guilty for skipping a day or two. Bikes, rebounders, bosus and reformers all have drawn me to this studio as a place to workout when I can't get what I want from another gym. Classes are held all day long, so if you have a lunch break and want to take something, or if you work from home and would rather take a class mid momring or mid afternoon to avoid the rush at other gyms, this is the place. Early bird classes and evening classes also round out the schedule. No membership means that you can come and go without the pressure or guilt that some gyms offer. Punch cards allow you to buy groups of classes as well. Rather than a typical gym set up with machines and weights everywhere, people grunting and loud music blaring, this studio is set up for you to get in the zone once you're in the studio, but you leave through the more subdued spa atmosphere so you can relax as you leave."

Best Spa Experience I have had on Cape Cod by far!, May 17, 2006
By Spa Go-er from Boston, MA
"As soon as I walked off the elevator into the reception area I felt relaxed. The staff was great, very friendly and attentive! They offered me coffee, tea, a robe with slippers and a locker which was something I wasn't expecting. I had a Le Grand Classique facial with Donna and Mary gave me a Hot Stone massage that was second to none I have had before. I travel around the United States for business and often find myself indulging in services and my experience at Journey was terrific. Highly Recommend it."

FEELING THE BURN

HYANNIS - The crew from Scituate, fresh off a first-place finish in a similar culinary contest off-Cape, eyed their sombrero-wearing neighbors with suspicion.
''We don't go in for the glitz and glamour,'' Scituate Fire Department Lt. Al Elliot said in a friendly poke at the costumed Dennis Fire squad stationed close by. ''We figure they're trying to cover something up with the dog and pony show.''
But the floppy hats and falling-off fake moustaches fit just about right for hundreds of chili-eaters who cast ballots in yesterday's second annual Cape Cod Firefighters Chili Showdown. The Dennis team - Los Locos Bomberos -
took first place for the second year in a row, using last year's beef-and-sausage recipe.
''Never change a winner,'' said Dennis Fire Capt. Dave Rodriguez.
The bomberos managed to keep their title despite increased competition - 23 teams entered the contest this year, up from last year's 15. At least one off-Cape contestant, the team from Mattapoisett, shared a first-place prize - for hottest chili, with Hyannis.
Numbers were up in another key category, too - money raised for the showdown's beneficiary, the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Held at the Four Points by Sheraton Hyannis Resort, the event raised more than $13,300, a 166 percent increase over last year's $5,000 take.
Muscular dystrophy is the name for a group of hereditary muscle disorders, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig's disease.
The Eastham and Yarmouth teams placed second and third in the best-overall category.
Los Locos Bomberos (''the crazy firemen'') was not the only team to tempt voters to its chili pot with marketing gimmicks. The team from Norton dressed its table in flashing lights and a dummy in firefighting gear. Yarmouth offered massages. And a multi-department team calling itself ''Chili Trilogy'' gave away red thongs emblazoned with the exclamation ''Lip Smacking Hot!''
This worked magic.
''How much are the thongs?'' asked a woman freshly arrived at Chili Trilogy's chicken-chili table.
''For you?'' said Chuck Talbott, the Yarmouth representative on the team. ''Nothing.''
''I'll take one,'' she said.
